About Me

The Birth of Resilient Mamas

I was always good at keeping up the appearances of being positive, acting as if I always had things under control. As a therapist I was scared of letting people know that I had my own struggles, wanting to show picture perfect mental health. Once I became a mom I realized keeping up those appearances was not only difficult but also  detrimental for my personal growth.  It became harder to cope with the stress alone, to pretend the loss of my identity didn’t bother me, or to sweep my symptoms of depression and anxiety under the rug. Thus began a journey of embracing the vulnerabilities of life and motherhood, being more honest with myself and others, and diving deep into understanding issues related to maternal mental health.

After blogging, starting a mothers’ support group, and going back to work as a maternal mental health therapist I started Resilient Mamas to provide a community of mothers who can embrace this perspective: We do not need to be perfect. We do not need to have all the answers. We can be honest, authentic, and embrace our struggles in order to grow and be happy.

Why Resilient Mamas? Because resiliency is the ability to thrive in the face of challenges, to bend and flex with the strong winds that come through our life, to find confidence in handling our new normal, and to find a deeper connection with ourselves and others along the way.  Resilient doesn’t mean all is well and perfect, it means we have struggled and emerged stronger. I am passionate about helping mothers become more comfortable with being vulnerable, authentic, and self-aware of their needs and desires so they can find happiness and growth during their transition to motherhood.
